Marguerita Aline "Rita" Spear, 96, of Indianola died of a heart ailment Monday, April 3, 2000, at Indianola Good Samaritan Center. Services were held April 6 at Green Plain United Methodist Church near Milo, of which she was a member, with burial at Goode Chapel Cemetery.

Miss Spear was born in White Oak Township and had lived in Indianola since 1972. She had been a schoolteacher in Warren County, a missionary in Panama and a farmer before retiring. She was active in several church and community clubs.

Survivors include two brothers, C.D. Spear and Frank Spear, both of Indianola; and nieces and nephews.

Overton Funeral Home handled arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to her church or First United Methodist Church in Indianola.
