Bessie Berniece Beeler, 99, formerly of Truro, died of a respiratory ailment Monday, Dec. 16, 2002, at Westbridge Care Center in Winterset. Services were held Dec. 21, at Peru United Methodist Church, with burial at Ebenezer Cemetery in Madison County.

Mrs. Beeler was born near Peru and had lived in the area most of her life before moving to Winterset in 1996. She was a homemaker and had worked for Shearers General Store in Peru. She was a member of Oak Run Community Church and Peru Garden Club. She was Affiliated with Peru United Methodist Church and enjoyed her flowers.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo.

Survivors include two daughters, Phyllis Ward of Tampa, Fla., and Donna Stegemann of Harrison, Ark.; a brother, Bill See of Peru; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Peru United Methodist Church.
