Sylvester Schurman, 90, died April 19, 2004 at home. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 23 at Rosemount Catholic Church, With burial in the Rosemount Cemetery.

Sylvester was born December 1, 1913 in Baileyville, KS. He was a farmer and member of Rosemount Catholic Church. He is survived by his sons, Melvin (Ok Chae) Waldorf, MD, John (Karen) of Lacona, Raymond (Sharilyn) of Topeka, KS, and Michael (Delores) of Aurora CO; daughters, Cathy "Erma" (Jerry) Burnes, Mary Ann Ivrsen and Rita (Richard) Reil, all of Aurora, CO, and Ruth (Bob) Koenig of Lakewood, CO; 22 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren; and sisters, Ethel Schurman and Agnes Hayes, both of Raymore, MO. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha.

Visitation begins after 11 a.m. today at Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Lacona, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. and a Rosary service at 6 p.m. Memorials may be made to Mercy Hospice, Lacona Rescue Unit or to his church.
