Obituary from The Record-Herald and Indianola Tribune newspaper, Indianola, Warren County, Iowa, USA on 2-24-1983:

Doyle Robert Schurman, son of Virgil Joseph and Grace Catherine Schurman, was born Sept. 9, 1945, at the family farm in Warren County and died Dec. 21, 1982, of a heart condition.

After graduation from Southeast Warren High School in 1963, he was employed at National Sheet Metal in Des Moines for 13 years. He purchased the family farm in 1972 and spent the majority of his 37 years there.

On Feb. 20, 1971, he was united in marriage to Janet Marie Ripperger of Lacona. They are the parents of two sons, Andrew and Wade.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Grace Dittmer Schurman, and two grandfathers, Frank Schurman and John Dittmer.

Doyle is survived by his wife, Janet; sons, Andy and Wade; his father, Virgil of Lacona, two brothers, Larry and Frank, both of Lacona; four sisters, Darlene Spaulding of Chariton, Gladys Spaulding of Des Moines, Agnes Flinn of Milo, and Cindy Burgin of Lacona.

Also surviving are two grandmothers, Suzanna Schurman of Indianola and Anna Dittmer of Knoxville.

Funeral services, conducted by Father Jon Kautzky, were held Dec. 24, 1982, at St. Marys Church, Rosemount. Interment was at the Rosemount Cemetery.
