Joseph Schultz, 65, of Melcher-Dallas died of cancer Monday, Sept. 25, 2000, at Knoxville Area Community Hospital.

Services were held Sept. 27 at New Hope United Methodist Church in Melcher-Dallas, with burial at Dallas Cemetery.

Mr. Schultz was born in Newton. He lived in Melcher-Dallas since 1958 and was retired from John Deere-Des Moines Works in Ankeny. He was a Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War and an American Legion and Jasper County Gun Club member.

Survivors include his wife, Alberta; a son, Lyle of Melcher-Dallas; a daughter, Carol Todd of Des Moines; a sister, Jean Halbfass of Altoona; and three grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to New Hope United Methodist Church or Melcher-Dallas Fire and Rescue Unit.
