Obituary from The Des Moines Register newspaper, Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa, USA on 3-29-1988:

Services for Berthold William Schneider, 71, of 3603 70th St., who died of cancer at home, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery.

Mr. Schneider was born in Lacona and lived in Des Moines since 1947. He retired in 1980 as a design engineer for Den-Tal-Ez Co. and was a member of the Catholic Church, Holy Name Society, Walnut Creek YMCA, Urbandale Post of the American Legion, Dowling Club and Elizabeth Seton chapter of Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include his wife, Rose; three daughters, Cathie Schneider of Houston, Texas, Pat Miller of Ames and Ann Valdez of Des Moines; two sons, Matt of Hanaunau, Hawaii, and Mike of Des Moines; five brothers, Paul of Melcher-Dallas, William and Floyd, both of Oklahoma City, Okla., Robert of Columbus Junction and Gerald of Lacona; a sister, Geraldine Ryherd of Oelwein; and five grandchildren.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at Westover Funeral Home, where the family will greet friends from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m., when a Rosary will be recited.

Memorial contributions may be made to his church building fund.
