Obituary from The Des Moines Register newspaper, Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa, USA on 8-3-2006:

Memorial services for Ted E. Knouse, 73, who died Monday, July 31, 2006 at the Regency Care Center in Norwalk, will be held 10 a.m., Friday, August 4 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola. Burial of cremains, with military rites, will be held in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Family will greet friends one hour prior to services Friday, August 4 at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to American Diabetes Association or Hospice of Central Iowa.

Ted was born in Indianola and had served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He received the Korean Service Medal with two bronze stars, the Combat Infantry Man's Badge and the Presidential Unit Citation. Following his discharge he was a heavy equipment operator for Central Paving, Lesters, and had retired from McAninch. He enjoyed horse racing at Prairie Meadows, dog racing, playing cards, and watching pro football and NASCAR.

He is survived by his children, Roland, (Rose) Knouse, Peggy (Ron) Chambers and Mike (Lori) Knouse all of Indianola; six grandchildren; brother, Roger Knouse of Kingwood, TX; sisters, Joyce Barg of Ruthven, Sherry Zenor of Winterset and June Wood of Indianola; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Tom Knouse.
