Dorothy Elizabeth Panther age 91, went to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus, on Saturday evening, December 29, 2012.

Dorothy was born on April 11, 1921 to Samuel and Frances (Seuferer) Snuggs in rural Bauer in Marion County. Dorothy was raised on a farm in rural Iowa. Dorothy received her education to be a teacher at Simpson College and State Teachers College of Iowa, which is now the University of Northern Iowa. Dorothy taught school for most of her adult life. She began her teaching career in a one-room county schoolhouse, and went on to teach at St. Nicholas in Evansdale and St. Mary's of Waterloo. Dorothy's students have fond memories of her and say that she impacted their lives greatly.

On July 13, 1943, Dorothy married the love of her life, Raymond G. Panther. They enjoyed over 52 years together before Raymond entered our eternal home in 1995.

Dorothy has been described by many as an angel or a saint. She was always very giving to others and never asked for anything in return. The family of Dorothy remembers her best at Timber Ridge Farm in Lacona, Iowa. Many memories were made here with family and friends. Dorothy enjoyed gardening, baking, canning and fishing. Dorothy also had a love for animals and would make sure every one of the barn cats always received the scraps from every meal.

Dorothy was strongly committed to her catholic faith. She was a longtime member of Catholic Daughters, and her dedication to God was unwavering throughout her life. Dorothy was a woman who was set apart from other because of her beautiful giving spirit and devotion to her faith and family. Dorothy touched the lives of everyone she met and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Dorothy has been reunited with those that have gone before her.

Survivors are her children, Jeanne (Tom) Bosman of Wausau, Wisconsin, Judy (Bob) Meyer of Waverly, Bob (Chris) Panther of Cedar Falls, Doug (JoAnna) Panther of San Antonio, Texas; 12grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two grandchildren, five sisters and one brother.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 5, 2013, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Waverly, with Fr. Ken Glaser officiating. Burial will be at Lacona St. Mary's Cemetery, Lacona, Iowa on Monday, January 7, 2013. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm on Friday, January 4, 2013, at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly, where there will be a Rosary Service at 5 pm, and Vigil Service at 7 pm. Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice or St. Mary Catholic Church. Online condolences may be left at www.kaisercorson.com .
