Fay D. King, 88, of Indianola died Friday at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines of complications of surgery. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola, with burial at Independent Order of Odd Fellows Cemetery there.

Mr. King was born near Indianola and had lived in Warren County all his life. He was a farmer and had raised Black Angus cattle. He also was a maintenance supervisor with the Warren County Secondary Road Department before retiring. He enjoyed working with his cattle, gardening and attending the National Balloon Classic. He had received the Farmer of the Year Award from the National Balloon Classic a year ago.

He is survived by three sons, Donald of New Virginia, Raymond of Des Moines and Richard of Queen Creek, Ariz.; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Chapel of Faith Church in Indianola.
