Obituary from The Des Moines Register newspaper, Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa, USA on 6-3-2005:

Elmer Raymond King, 80, passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2005. Memorial services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, June 4, at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola. Visitation with family present to greet friends will be held from 10 to 1:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. The body has been cremated. A private interment of cremains will be in Shaffer Cemetery.

Born on a farm south of Indianola, Elmer lived in Indianola all of his adult life. He was a 1942 of Indianola High School and had served in the United States Navy 1943 to 1946 with active duty in the South Pacific. An electrician, Elmer was employed in Indianola and had also worked for Solar Aircraft and R & R Welding. He retired in the late 1970's while employed by A.M.F. in Des Moines. Elmer especially enjoyed his family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; his hobbies were gardening, refinishing furniture, drawing, art and carving wood.

He is survived by his wife, Betty King of Indianola; a son, Allen (Kathy) King of Indianola; two daughters, Jeanne Crabb of Adel and Sally (Dick) Wood of Indianola; a brother, Marion King of Alabaster, Alabama; a sister, Darlene Gandy of Mission Viejo, California; nine grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Memorial may be given to the Hospice of Central Iowa.
