Betty Eliza Thomas, 74, of Berthoud, Colo., died Friday, April 21, 2000, at Boulder Community Hospital in Boulder, Colo. The cause of death was not given. Graveside services were held April 28 at Motor Cemetery near Milo.

Mrs. Thomas was born in Dawson and was raised in the Milo area. She had worked with the U.S. Postal Service in Des Moines and retired in 1977 from the postal service.

She lived in Longmont, Colo. and McCook, Neb., before returning to Colorado in 1998.

Survivors include her husband, James; four sons, Michael Wadle of Englewood, Colo., Mark Wadle of Peru; Morris Wadle of West Des Moines, and Martin Wadle of Indianola, Neb.; a stepson, Steven Thomas of West Des Moines; four daughters, Karen McClaury of Aurora, Colo., Connie Butters of Guthrie Center, Patricia Utsler of Loveland, Colo., and Jolene McKenna of Longmont, Colo.; a stepdaughter, Cheri Paczosa of Inver Grove Height, Minn.; two brothers, Ray Kennard of Mount Pleasant, Mich., and Oscar Kennard of Clive; three sisters, Bertha Patton of Capac, Mich., Lucille Ohnemus of Milo and Shirley Wilson of West Des Moines; 21 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
