Obituary from an unknown newspaper, date unknown, photographed from an Obituary Book at the City Library in Indianola, Warren County, Iowa, USA:

Jacob George Kellar was born in Juanita county, April 8th, 1830, and died Dec. 19th, 1914, being 84 years, 8 months and 11 days old. He died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Fred Reese, at the old home place near Milo.

He moved with his parents to Peoria county, Ill., in 1850, was married to Matilda Frank in 1852, removed with his family to Warren county, Ia., in 1876, where he has since resided making his home among the children since the death of his wife 12 years ago. He was the father of 14 children, 9 of whom survive him all being with him during his sickness, and present at his funeral except one daughter, Mrs. Emma Gibson of Onaka, South Dakota, being unable to come. Those present were J.F. Keller of Ackworth, Iowa, Mrs. Jane Goode of Indianola, Iowa, G.L. Keller of St. James, Minn., Mrs. Oraline Smith, Earlton, Kansas, Mrs. Nora Graham, Mrs. Mattie Reese and Mrs. Maggie Spear all of Milo, Iowa, and Mrs. Edith Shirk of Waterville, Kansas, also 43 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren surviving. Mr. Keller was the second child of a family of 7 children and survived by only one brother John L. Keller of Cuba, Ill., who was 3 years older than himself.

He was confirmed and received into the Lutheran church at the age of 17 years in Penn., remained a member of the Lutheran church in Ill. and Iowa, until 1887 there being no longer a Lutheran church in the community, he placed his membership with the Methodist church at Green Plain. He served as Sunday School superintendent in both churches several years and was a regular attendant at all church services, until a short time before his death, being sick only about three weeks. All was done that loving hands could do to prolong life, but it was God's will to take him home. He was a constant sufferer and often expressed his desire to go home. He was ready and willing and anxious for many years. He was conscious to the last and called the children to his bedside and made all his plans and arrangements with them. He will be missed as a father, a neighbor and in the church.

Services held at Goode's Chapel 5 miles south-east of Milo, Monday, Dec.21, at 11 a.m. The Rev. VanDyke officiated. After the services interment took place in the adjacent cemetery.
