Funeral services were held Saturday for George Luther Kellar, who passed away July 4. The funeral was held at the Methodist church, Rev. H. Hugh Gower being in charge, assisted by Rev. T.S. Mondale of Ceylon, Minn. The church choir furnished music. Burial was at Mt. Hope cemetery.

George Luther Kellar was born in Peoria, Ill., March 9, 1859. There he grew up to young manhood. He later moved with his parents to Liberty Center, Warren county, Iowa.

He was married on Oct. 24, 1882 to Alice Caroline Proctor. Two children came to bless their home, Mrs. Earl Coleman, St. James and Alvah Kellar, Newport, Minn. His wife and two children, also five grandchildren, one brother, John Kellar, Ackworth, Iowa, and five sisters survives him. The sisters are: Mrs. Orline Smith, Shinott, Kans.; Mrs. Ed Graham, Liberty Center, Ia.; Mrs. Dave Shirck, Waterville, Kan.

Mr. Kellar joined the Methodist church in 1884 and has been a faithful and consistent member.

For 29 years the family has been in and around St. James where Mr. Keller farmed and worked as a carpenter. Eight years ago he was stricken with diabetes and hardening of the arteries and from that time he has been gradually failing. For nine months he has been confined to his bed and many times during that period it seemed impossible for him to survive the night. Finally the struggle ceased and he passed on at 12:30 a.m. July 4 after several days of unconsciousness.

He had a genial, likeable disposition and through the long years of waiting for the end showed a remarkable patience and cheerfulness. His faith in the wisdom and goodness of God was unshaken to the end.
