Funeral services for Harley Virgil Keeney, 89, were held Aug. 15 at the First Church of the Nazarene in Indianola. Interment was in the Liberty Center Cemetery.

Mr. Keeney died Aug. 11 while working in his garden.

Born in Warren County Aug. 19, 1893, Mr. Keeney had lived and farmed all of his working life in Lucas County.

He married Anna Vera Woods March 4, 1917. He had been an active member and past president of the Senior Citizens in Indianola.

Mr. Keeney was preceded in death by one son, the Rev. Harold Keeney, in 1977.

Surviving him are his wife, Willa of Indianola; seven children, Colene Borger of Kankakee, Ill., Glen Keeney of Reseda, Calif., Louise Turner of Oskaloosa, Carol Fullerton of Newnan, Ga., Harley Keeney of Chariton, Frances Schneider of Orlando, Fla., and Francene Irving of Kissimee, Fla.; 32 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Laura Woods of Denver, Colo., Ethel Borchert of Indianola, Hazel Sams of Milo and Ardys Thompson of Denver.
