Obituary from an unknown newspaper, date unknown, photographed from an Obituary Book at the City Library in Indianola, Warren County, Iowa, USA:

Funeral services for Harry Earnest Jacobs were held in the Methodist Church in Milo on Thursday, March 8, at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Lucius Smith, a former Milo Pastor, now of Weldon, Iowa officiated.

During the service Mrs. Lora Davey and Mrs. Eileen Oldaker sang, "Rock of Ages" and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere", accompanied by Doris Kimzey. Mrs. Laura Ohaven and Mrs. Isabelle Boyle where in charge of the many beautiful flowers. Mrs. Nell Wolcott was in charge of the memorial records.

The bearers were John Lyons, Harry Jacobs, Clarence Lepley, Merle Woodyard, Dr. Claude Higbee and John Jacobs.

The Masonic Lodge attended services in a body and had charge of the graveside rites. Max Godlove W. M. of Milan Lodge Milo and Mr. Tarowsky P. W. M. of Des Moines assisted by members of Milan Lodge gave the Masonic burial ceremony.

Harry Earnest Jacobs well known resident of this community passed away at his home in Des Moines, Monday Evening, March 5, 1945, at the age of 65, 6 months and 12 days.

Harry was the son of Nelson B. and Josephine M. Jacobs and he was born near Liberty Center, August 23, 1879.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Madge; a daughter, Phyllis Walker of Newton and a son Raymond of Marshalltown.

Two brothers, Frank of Portland, Oregon and Fred of Milo; and one sister, Nettie Godlove of Milo; five grandchildren and one great grandchild.

The brothers were unable to attend the funeral. Frank because of the distance away and Fred because of poor health.

Harry was an ardent foe of dishonesty, he was always unselfish and fair in all his dealing. He was of a happy disposition. The last day of his life he came home from work and into the house laughing, when suddenly the death angel came.

Harry has served on the Milo School Board, also the Milo Town Council for several years. He was a member of the Milan Lodge 409 Milo, Iowa. He with his brother Fred conducted a general store in Milo for over 30 years. For the last year he and his wife have lived in Des Moines, but kept their home in Milo.

Their many friends in Milo and community and in Des Moines extend deepest sympathy to the wife, daughter, son, brothers and sisters and their families.

Relatives and friends from out of town who attended the services were Mr. and Mrs. Glen Walker, Sandra and Marylin of Newton; Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Jacobs, Madge and Janet of Marshalltown; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bell and Phyllis of Des Moines; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Godlove and Arlo and Janice of Indianola; Mr. and Mrs. Harry Jacobs of Kellogg; Mr. and Mrs. Loren Caviness of Indianola; Rev. and Mrs. L.L. Smith of Weldon, Iowa; Mrs. Emma Robbins, Mrs. Mae Koote; Mrs. Morgan; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Chambers and Mr. H.T. Yarowsky all of Des Moines; Maude Squire of Lacona; and John Kimzey, Golda Sandy, Mrs. Jock Bodkin and Mr. and Mrs. John Lyons of Indianola.

Interment was in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery with Fielding service in charge.
