Deskin Samuel Hurst, son of J. W. and Maggie Hurst was born Jan. 19, 1886 in Warren County and died March 29, 1965 at the Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines, Ia. at the age of 79 years, 2 months and 10 days

He was united in marriage to Jessie Mae Buell March 10, 1909 at Denver, Colo. To this union five children were born, two of whom survive. They are Edward W. and Loren W., both of Milo.

He was preceded in death by his wife in 1945, one son, Raymond M., in infancy March 17, 1921, Vera Coffman, Oct. 21, 1964, and Neoma Mitchell of California Oct. 14, 1946.

Deskin farmed in Warren County in the Pleasant Hill neighborhood until he retired seven years ago, when he moved to Indianola.

Even though he had been in failing health for the last five years, his death came unexpectedly after a serious illness of 17 days.

He is survived by two sons, one son-in-law, two daughters-in-law, 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, several other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Stanley Kennedy April 2, 1965, at the Overton Funeral Home. Interment was in Indianola I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
