Obituary from The Des Moines Register newspaper, Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa, USA on 1-18-2011:

Services for Roland Burdette Hunerdosse, 96, who was received into his heavenly father's arms on Saturday, January 15, 2011, will be held 2 p.m., Friday, January 21, at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola. Visitation will be held two hours prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Indianola.

Roland Burdette Hunerdosse was born the oldest of six children on March 28, 1914, to Ernest and Ethel (Baker) Hunerdosse. He worked on the family farm and as a farmhand before moving to California to study diesel engineering. Roland served in the United States Army during World War II in California, Aleutian Islands, France and Germany. On May 12, 1944, he was united in marriage to Barbara Middleswart and they were blessed with four children. He worked for Archer Oil for several years and farmed in Milo, West Des Moines, Indianola and Humeston before retiring and moving to Knoxville.

Roland was a member of Fairview Christian Union church and Chariton Christian Union church. He taught Sunday school and served on the Iowa Christian Union missionary board for several years. He was also active in Prison Ministries for many years and was a devout member of Gideons International, traveling to various churches to raise money for Gideon bibles. Roland believed in spreading the word of God to everyone.

He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Barbara; sons, Robert (Elaine) and Marion (Gail) Hunerdosse; daughter, Loraine (Roger) Lawler; sister, Neola Hawk; brothers, Darl (Dorothy) and Wayne Hunerdosse; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Esther Hon; brother, Vernon; daughter, Arminta Shetterly; and great grandson, Jordan Hunerdosse.
