Obituary from an unknown newspaper, date unknown, photographed from an Obituary Book at the City Library in Indianola, Warren County, Iowa, USA:

James Wesley Freel, son of Matthew and Martha Freel, was born on the 12th day of April, 1840, in Madison County, Indiana, and departed from this life December 26, 1927, aged 87 years, 9 months, and 14 days at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Charles Ferguson at Liberty Center.

At the age of twelve years he moved with his parents to Pleasantville. He was united in marriage to Mary C. Westerfield October 31, 1861, who preceded him in death September 6, 1922. To this union were born six children: Samuel C. Freel of Stockton, Cal., Mrs. Charles Ferguson and Gerald Freel of Liberty Center, Martha and Clara who died in infancy and Elsworth H. Freel who died January 20, 1919, in California.

Besides the children to mourn their loss are seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, also a host of other relatives and friends.

In their early married life Mr. and Mrs. Freel joined the Methodist church near Milo. As long as their health permitted they were regular attendants.

The funeral services were held at the Liberty Center Methodist church on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. Rev. S. Grant Lewis, district superintendent of the Indianola district, officiated. Burial took place in the family lot in the Liberty Center cemetery. The Liberty Center choir furnished appropriate music.
