Obituary from The Des Moines Register newspaper, Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa, USA on 12-30-2003:

Floyd Kenneth Freeman passed away Sunday, December 28, 2003, at Westview Care Center in Indianola. Services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 31 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola. Burial will be in the Sandyville Cemetery.

Floyd was born near Sandyville, Iowa. He had farmed near Beech and also owned the General Store in Sandyville for many years. He was active in the Warren County Historical Society. Over 5,000 elementary school children knew him as "Grandpa Floyd" as he conducted tours of the store and log cabin at the Historical Museum. He was also known for his story telling.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth of Indianola; sons. Donald and Austin of Ackworth and Dwight of Indianola; daughter, Juanita Dykstra of Milo; ten grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous stepchildren and stepgrandchildren.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, December 30 at Overton Funeral Home where family will be present to greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

Memorials may be given to the Warren County Historical Society.
