Obituary from The Winterset Madisonian newspaper, Winterset, Madison County, Iowa, USA on 1-19-1928:

Mrs. Merritt [Nancy Ellen] Ogburn, who has been residing at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Sam Powell, died last Wednesday, January 11th. Mrs. Ogburn, who had been in poor health since the death of her husband three years ago, was 78 years of age. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Eldridge, and was born in Shelby county, Indiana, February 28, 1849. She came with her parents to Madison county in 1855 and they made their home in a log cabin which until recently, stood on the Eldridge place, east of Winterset. She was married to Mr. Ogburn in 1875, and to them were born three children, two of whom survive her, Mrs. Powell and Mrs. Elvie Chaffee, of Yakima, Washington.

The Ogburns made their home in the Peru neighborhood until in 1916 when they moved near Winterset. Mrs. Ogburn leaves besides her two children, two grandchildren and two great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Louisa Quinn, of Ainsworth, Nebraska; and four brothers, Will and Lot Eldridge, of Winterset; Melvin, of Des Moines, and Albert, of Murray.

Rev. A. P. Keast conducted the funeral services in the Peru Methodist church, Saturday afternoon, January 14, and the burial was in the Peru cemetery.
