Obituary from The Des Moines Register newspaper, Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa, USA on 8-28-2011:

Memorial services for Phillip Elgin, 85, who died Thursday, August 25, 2011 will be held 11 a.m. Monday, August 29 at the First Baptist Church in Indianola. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to services.

Phillip F. Elgin was born on February 2, 1926 near Carlisle, Iowa, to Margaret (Hargis) and Paul Elgin. He graduated from Spring Hill High School and Simpson College and earned his law degree from the University of Iowa. He married Catherine (Cue) Bellman Elgin on March 19, 1966.

Phil served in the United States Army in Germany during the Korean War from 1950 -1952 and practiced law in Indianola for almost 63 years. He supported the American Legion and was an avid sports spectator.

Phil is survived by his wife, Kate; sons, Greg (Cindy) Bellman, Dennis (Sandie) Bellman and Jim (Paula) Bellman; sister, Mary Jean Brewbaker; grandchildren, Shelley Goodrich, Travis Bellman, Quincy Bellman,Teri Garvin, Natalie Beeler, Jennifer Nelsen, Todd Cambron, Ryan Cambron, Shane Hoover, Joe Elgin, Jason Elgin, Jennifer Elgin and Jeanette Elgin; 16 great- grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Phil was preceded in death by parents, brothers George and Bob Elgin, son Rick Elgin and daughter Ann Hoover.
