Obituary from The Des Moines Register newspaper, Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa, USA on 9-18-2007:

Jerry Wayne Edwards, 64, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, surrounded by his family on Sunday September 16, 2007, at his home.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, September 19, at Iles Grandview Park Funeral Home. Per Jerry's wishes, cremation will follow the service.

Jerry Wayne Edwards was born February 5, 1943 in Indianola, Iowa, the son of Lura D. and Harold P. Edwards. He had lived in Des Moines most of his life. Jerry was a Marine Corp veteran of Vietnam and worked as a self employed carpenter. Jerry loved to fish and play music with his family. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren and helping his children anyway he could.

Jerry is survived by his children, Matt (Kim) Edwards, Carlisle, Peggy Edwards, Bondurant, Blondie Edwards, Carlisle, Walter Edwards, Nevada and Bobby Edwards, Pleasant Hill; Arlene Edwards (mother of Matt, Peggy, Blondie and Walter); step- children, Brian Johnson, Sam Avila and J.R. Sinclair; Peggy Hooper, (mother of Bobby, Brian, Sam and J.R.); 14 grandchildren; brothers: Bill (Maxine) Edwards, Indianola, Cliff (Marylin) Edwards, Tucson, AZ and Harold (Shirley) Edwards, Pleasant Hill; sister, Joanne (Darrell) McVey, Leon, IA; brother-in-law, Tom Schumacher, Indianola and sister-in-law, Norma Edwards, Indianola.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Delbert and sister Lorraine Schumacher.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home.
