Virgil Ivan Edgington, 84, of Indianola died Friday at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines of pneumonia resulting from injuries sustained in an auto accident. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Overton Funeral Home. Burial will be in Indianola IOOF Cemetery.

Mr. Edgington was born in Marion County and lived in Indianola 50 years. He retired after 32 years as a petroleum truck driver for Phillips 66 and worked part time at Woodward Apco Station. He was a member of Indianola First Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Nora; a son, Gary of Des Moines; four daughters, Joan Vander Werff and Sandra Wark, both of Des Moines, and Ruth Plowman and Nancy McKasson, both of Indianola; a brother, Charles of Colorado Springs, Colo.; four sisters, Marianne Holton of Des Moines and Helen Reese, Wilma Hagen and Betty Eckert, all of Indianola; 17 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Friends may call after 1 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, where the family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to his church or Chapel of Faith.
