Obituary from The Des Moines Register newspaper, Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa, USA on 4-19-2007:

Funeral services for Billy Dennison King, 74, of Indianola who died Wednesday, April 18, will be held 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 20, at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola. Burial with military rites will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Indianola.

Billy was born in rural Warren County to Homer and Mary King. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged on January 21, 1961. On December 8, 1958 he was united in marriage to La Von Kenney. Following his discharge from the service Billy worked as a plumber for Hornaday Plumbing and Heating in Indianola until his retirement in 1997. He had lived on a farm south of Indianola where he lived until July of 2006, when he moved to assisted living and then to a nursing home in November of 2006.

Billy enjoyed country music, farming and helping friends and family with anything they needed help with. If you asked him a question on how to do something, he had an answer and he could fix anything. When you needed him he was there. He always had a smile on his face and a story to tell. He was the best and will be missed by many, especially at Crouse Café.

He was preceded in death by his wife, La Von, son Dirk and his parents.

He is survived by his daughter, Dena (Craig) Dittmer of Indianola; daughter-in-law, Chris King of Indianola; 4 grandsons, Dakota and Nolan King and Keith and Derek Dittmer.

Visitation will be held 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 19, at Overton Funeral Home where family will be present to greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Hospice of Central Iowa.
