Obituary from The Des Moines Register newspaper, Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa, USA on 12-10-2012:

Byron Samuel White, 96, of Indianola passed away Saturday, December 8, 2012 at Mercy Hospice House in Johnston. Born May 10, 1916 in Farrar, Ia., the son of Samuel Bart and Bessie Goode White. Byron married Maxine May Speas on February 19,1940. They had two children, Joanne and Gene. Byron farmed most of his life and ended his career in Warren County, near Lacona. After retirement, Byron and Maxine moved to Indianola where he worked for Simpson College for five years. Byron enjoyed taking trips to Branson, Mo., attending an occasional Iowa Cubs baseball game, woodworking, gardening with his wife, reading, and sharing his knowledge and experiences with family. His wisdom and quick wit will be greatly missed.

Survivors include wife Maxine, son Gene/Vickie of Indianola, granddaughter Marni/Tom of Fairfield, Ia., grandson Scott/Angela of Eldon, Mo. Byron had three great-grandchildren, Jacob, Sidney, and Logan, and he was very proud of them. He is also survived by his two brothers, Ordie, of Bondurant and Bob, of Runnells. Byron was preceded in death by one daughter, Joanne, three brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Wednesday, December 12, at Trinity United Presbyterian Church, in Indianola. Visitation with the family present to receive guests will be held at the same location prior to the services, beginning at 1 p.m. Burial will be held at Indianola IOOF Memorial Gardens, at a later date.
