Memorial services for Gerald Blackford will be held at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, January 21, 2004 at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola with burial of the cremains at a later date in Jamison Cemetery.

Gerald Glenn Blackford, son of Ferne Belle Hines Blackford and William Blackford, was born on May 4, 1934 in Polk County, Iowa and passed away on January 5, 2004 at Senatobia Convalescent Home in Senaobia, Mississippi at the age of 69.

Gerald attended county schools in Clarke County and graduated from Truro High School in 1953. He was united in marriage to Marilynn Murray in September of 1955; four children, Darrel, Russell, Ruth, and Bonnie blessed this union.

Gerald lived in Jamison for 33 years and farmed most of his life. He loved farming and raising hogs. He enjoyed watching wrestling. He was also a truck driver, carpenter, and worked as a janitor at the Osceola Schools.

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Kenneth Duane Blackford in infancy, Harold Blackford, and Harley James Blackford. Survivors include his son, Darrel Glenn Blackford and wife, Lynn of Crenshaw, MS; son, Russell Blackford and wife, Brenda of Delta, IA; daughter, Ruth Smith and husband, Jay of Delta, IA; daughter, Bonnie Zoe Zugg and husband, Gregg of Fremont, NE; four sisters, Helen Bea Dutton of Osceola, Velma F. Hunter of Indianola, Marjorie Linsley of Summerset, and Maxine Norlin of Indianola; brother, Edwin Blackford of Osceola; 15 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
