James Blackford, 75, of Indianola died of complications of diabetes Saturday at Veterans Medical Center in Des Moines. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Overton Funeral Home, with burial at Norwalk Cemetery.

Mr. Blackford was born near Spring Hill and lived in rural Warren County most of his life. He was a retired laborer and Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Zoe; a step-son, Larry Thompson of Des Moines; a daughter, Donna Blackford of Indianola; two brothers, Edwin of St. Charles and Glen of Osceola; and four sisters, Marjorie Linsley and Maxine Norlin, both of Indianola, Velma Hunter of St. Charles and Helen Dutton of Osceola.

Friends may call after 3 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will be present from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
