Obituary from The Des Moines Register newspaper, Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa, USA on 3-20-2012:

Charles Agans, 83, died Sunday, March 18, 2012. A funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 22, 2012 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church with burial following at Sunset Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. with a rosary at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 21 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street.

Charles was born August 12, 1928 to John and Mary Margaret Agans. He worked as an auto mechanic at Wayne Highland Radiator Shop. He was also retired from the Army National Guard as a Sergeant Major after 21 years of service. He was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, the Isaac Walton League, the Sgt. Major’s Association and the Knights of Columbus. He also served as Treasurer of the Boy Scouts of America Troop #227.

Charles is survived by his wife, Mary Agnes; sons, Charles Jr. (Michelina), Gary (Patty), John (Ann); daughters, Crystal (Chuck) Grange, Mary Lee Agans, Donna (Robert Sr.) Grange, Georgia Parkey; sister, Marjorie (Stan) Sanders; eighteen grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren.
