Hilda Irene Fatino, 89, died Monday, November 14, 2005 at home surrounded by her family.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 18, 2005 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 3300 Easton Blvd., of which she was a member. Interment will be at Glendale Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, November 17 at Grandview Park Funeral Home, with a vigil service at 6 p.m.

Hilda was born November 23, 1915 in Lacona, Iowa to George and Anna Bauer. She married Louis Fatino on September 19, 1940.

Hilda began her career as secretary to various lawyers in the Des Moines area. Hilda also worked as secretary to Fire Marshall, Assistant County Attorney, Des Moines Municipal Civil Service Employees Association and her final position as secretary to Airport Director. Hilda belonged to several social organizations which include Women of Moose, American Legion, St. Joseph Rosary Society, FORCE ONE, and American Airlines "Fairladies".

In her retirement years, she volunteered at St. Joseph’s grade school, Lutheran Hospital as an insurance verifier, the Lady Auxiliary at Park Ridge Nursing Home and made hundreds of panda bears for Amanda the Panda.

She is survived by sons, Joe L. (Carol) Fatino of Des Moines and Jack (Addie) Fatino of Orlando, FL; daughters, Joan (Jo) Fatino and Janet (Larry) Goode of Des Moines; brother, Floyd (Dottie) Bauer of Webster Groves, MO; sisters, Rita Pender of Sierra Vista, AZ and Arlene Morey of San Antonio, TX; seven grandchildren and seven great- grandchildren.

Hilda was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Louie on May 20, 1960; brother, Virgil Bauer; and sister, Ethel Seymour.
