Obituary from an unknown newspaper, date unknown, photographed from an Obituary Book at the City Library in Indianola, Warren County, Iowa, USA:

Herschel Boyd "Roy" Fear, son of John and Pearl Fear, was born June 8, 1893, at Fairmont, W. Virginia, and died in a nursing home in Des Moines March 22, 1970, at the age of 76 years, 9 months and 14 days.

While he was still a small child, his family moved to Iowa into the Milo community where he grew to manhood. It was in this community that he attended the public school.

He was active in the churchs of the communities where he lived and was a member of the United Methodist Church at Van Meter, Ia.

(unreadable) 1915, he was united in marriage to Stella McGee at her family's farm home south of Indianola. Their home was blessed with four children: Mona, Marjorie, Helen and Glenn.

Their first home was on a farm near where they were married. They subsequently lived on farms in the Pleasant Hill, Scotch Ridge and Norwalk communities before moving to the farm south of Van Meter in Madison County where they lived for more than 25 years.

He did general farming through the years and was always interested in those programs designed to improve and conserve the soil. He had been a longtime member of the Farm Bureau and was active as a leader and participant in the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service.

He was a member, and for a term was president, of the Booneville Cooperative Elevator Association. He had been a township assessor.

The last two years of his life he had been in failing health and was confined to a nursing home in Des Moines for several months.

He is survived by his wife, Stella, at Van Meter; three daughters, Mrs Robert (Mona) Onstot of Des Moines, Mrs Marjorie Rippentrop and Mrs Helen Johnson, both of West Des Moines; one son, Glenn, of Tipton, Ia.; nine grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs Glenn Walter of St. Louis, Mo., and Mrs H. two brothers, Marvin, of Eugene, Ore., and Fred of Spencer, Ia.; other relatives and (unreadable) A. Morris of Watertown, S.D. many friends.

Funeral services were condusted by the Rev. Glen Lamb Wednesday, March (unreadable) at the Overton Funeral Home. Interment was in the Indianola Cemetery.
