Obituary from The Des Moines Register newspaper, Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa, USA on 7-26-2006:

Robert "Bob" Jerald Battles, 70, passed away July 19, 2006, at Iowa Methodist Hospital from a stroke. Bob will be cremated and a visitation will be held Wednesday, August 2, 2006 at Ankeny Funeral Home & Crematory 1510 West First Street, Ankeny from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, August 3, 2006 at First Federated Church 4801 Franklin, Ave Des Moines with visitation beginning at 5 p.m.

Bob is survived by his wife, Myrna of Ankeny; children, Tamara Monroe of Castaic, CA; Sharlyn Hulling of Zimmerman, MN; Mark Battles of New Port Richey, FL; and eleven grandchildren.

Bob taught Biology at Ankeny High School for 33 years. He gave the gift of life to many others by being a tissue donor.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Camp Appanoose 13380 430th St. Plano, Iowa 52581.
