Obituary from The Des Moines Register newspaper, Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa, USA on 2-6-2005:

Lois Joan Hoch, 69, passed away on Friday, February 4, 2005 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center from complications of a stroke. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, February 7 at St. Josephs Catholic Church, 3300 Easton Blvd. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, February 6 at Hamilton's near Highland Memory Gardens, with a 7 p.m. vigil service.

Joan was born June 11, 1935 in Mount Ayr, Iowa. She graduated from Waukee High School. She was employed at NAPA for 20 years and worked part time at Factory Motor Parts. Joan retired in April 2004. Joan adored her husband, children and grandchildren. She looked forward to attending sports activities, dance recitals and having family gatherings. Joan and Gene enjoyed country music and dancing at the Eagle's Lodge. They loved going camping, watching NASCAR #24, trips to Las Vegas and casino's around the area.

Survivors include her husband, Gene; her son, Dennis Fife of Des Moines; her daughters, Connie (Fred) Nickens of Des Moines, Brenda Fife of Webster City, Pam (Dave) Bradshaw of Webster City and Deb (Roger) Metz of Des Moines; her stepsons, Joe (Jenny) Hoch of Norwalk and Eric Hoch of Ankeny; her brother, Bob (Linda) Reynolds of Des Moines; her grandchildren, Mandie, Jennifer, Jordan, Maranda, Bailey and Macie; her great-grandson, Bradley; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.

Our mom was absolutely perfect in so many ways that words cannot describe how much we are missing her.
