Obituary from The Des Moines Register newspaper, Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa, USA on 4-20-2011:

Odessa Pearl Williams, 91, recently of Knoxville, Iowa died April 18, 2011 at the Pleasant Care Living Center in Pleasantville, Iowa.

She was born in Monroe County, Iowa to Lloyd James and Lolo Gladys Thompson Johnson.

Pearl was a hard working farm wife into her late 70's. She was always a prolific letter writer and crib quilt maker until about one year ago when her failing eyesight would no longer permit it. She lived independently until one year ago, when she decided she needed to make her home at Pleasant Care where she stayed involved and active until the illness of the last two weeks of her life. Members of her family have been with her constantly these last two weeks.

She is survived by six children: Loren (Betty); Gerald (Wava) and Marvin (Ginny) all of Knoxville; Nel Watts of Ankeny, Tom Williams (Linda) of Des Moines and Marilyn Heller (Larry) of Grimes. Also surviving are a sister Phyllis Harding of Oskaloosa and three brothers; Robert (Mildred) of Eddyville; John R (Delores) of Albia and Myron (Marilyn) of Albia; 18 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 23 great-great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years. George Edward Williams who died in 1997; her parents; three brothers; James, Don and Irvin and one sister Helen Akers and two of her children died at a very young ages and one grandson Scott Watts.

Funeral Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday April 22, 2011 at the Eddyville United Methodist Church with Reverend Jason Gutzmer officiating. Burial will be in the Highland Cemetery in Eddyville.

Visitation will be Thursday April 21st from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Eddyville Funeral Chapel. The family will be present Thursday evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the family.
