Raymond Francis "Shoe" Schumacher, 71, of Lacona died of cancer Monday, June 27, 1994, at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines. Services were held June 30 at Mosher Funeral Home in Lacona, with burial at Cochran Cemetery there.

Mr. Schumacher was born in Lacona and had lived in the area all his life. He was the retired assistant manager at South Central Co-op in Lacona, an Army veteran of World War II, and a member of the American Legion and the Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife, Louise; three daughters, Connie Bingham of Knoxville, Marilyn Barrell of Milo and Cheryl Roland of Lacona; seven brothers, Larry of Norwalk, Tom of Indianola, Leroy of Pleasantville, Paul of Harvey, Ed of Houston, Texas, Carl of Plant City, Fla., and Joe of Wenachee, Wash.; two sisters, Alice Fawcett of Knoxville and Ruth Woods of New Virginia; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
