Obituary From The Record-Herald and Indianola Tribune newspaper, Indianola, Warren County, Iowa, USA on 5-25-1988:

Marion John Byers, 63, of Ackworth died of cancer Friday, May 13, 1988, at home. Services were held Monday, May 16, at Mosher Funeral Home in Milo. Burial was in Hammondsburg Cemetery in rural Milo.

Mr. Byers was born in Indianola and lived in Ackworth and Indianola most of his life. He retired as a general contractor and was an American Legion member and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War ll.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marion and Luella Byers; three children, Gary Scott, Lou Ann and Georld Wayne; and a grandson, Jonathon Richard.

Survivors include his wife, Patsy Ann; three sons, Glenn Martin of Jackson Hole, Wyo., James Craig of Alaska and Marion John Jr. (Jack) of Milo; two daughters, Tena Lea Krauthoff of Milo and Teresa Gail Spilman of Ackworth; three brothers, Lloyd and Archie, both of Indianola, and Ray of Seattle, Wash.; two sisters, Hilda Archer of Des Moines and Evelyn Simmons of Millerton; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
