Services for Esther Hansaker, 101, will be Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Melcher-Dallas. Memorials to Hospice of Central Iowa.

Esther was born July 20, 1907 in Grenrid, Iowa to Swan and Maria Olson Nelson. She was the oldest of nine siblings. Esther was a hard worker and enjoyed quilting, sewing, crafting, gardening, and sports. She was proud to be named Melcher-Dallas fan of the year. Esther was always ready to go. She liked trips shopping, the State Fair, and going anywhere to see her family.
Esther was preceded in death by her son LaVerne Hansaker; and siblings: Paul Nelson, Everett Nelson, Rolland Nelson, Russell Nelson, Ethel Logli, Ruth Pope, and Virginia Karpan.
Esther is survived by her children: Merilyn (Russell) Farrell of Des Moines, Jake (Wilma) Hansaker of Melcher-Dallas, Norma (Leonard) Wadle of Melcher-Dallas, John (Ramona) Hansaker of Melcher-Dallas, Orbie (Jack) Becker of Indianola, LeRoy (Carolyn) Hansaker of Melcher-Dallas, and daughter-in-law Doris Hansaker of Melcher-Dallas. Also surviving are 21 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; a great-great-great-grandchild; and a brother Robert Nelson of Rock Island, Illinois.
