Geneva Mary Galeazzi, 88, passed away September 18, 2010 at Hospice of Central Iowa in Knoxville. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 22, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Melcher-Dallas.

Geneva was born on August 20,1922 in Lacona, Iowa to Glen and Veronica Bauer. She graduated from Lacona High School and received her teaching certificate from Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. She taught at a number of country schools in the Lacona area.

Geneva married Gene Galeazzi on May 30, 1945 and their marriage was blessed with seven children. After raising her family, she worked at the Melcher Post Office and retired in 1988 after 18 years of service.

She is survived by her children: Jo Ann (Michael) Humphreys of Cumming, Dennis (Nancy) Galeazzi of Des Moines, Linda (Keith) Winkelmann of Greenfield and Michael (Tamara) Galeazzi of Ankeny; 14 grandchildren; four great grandchildren and a sister Louise Schneider of West Des Moines. Geneva was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gene in 1974; and siblings: Duane Bauer, Marjorie Jacobs and Norbert Bauer.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, September 21, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with a Vigil Service at 8 p.m.

Memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church (Melcher), St. Anthony’s Catholic Church (Knoxville) or Hospice of Central Iowa.

She is survived by her children, JoAnn (Michael) Humphreys of Cumming, Dennis (Nancy) Galeazzi of Des Moines, Rebecca (Phil) Nolte of Knoxville, Carol (Steve) Ross of Altoona, Dave Galeazzi of Des Moines, Linda (Keith) Winkelmann of Greenfield, and Mike (Tamara) Galeazzi of Ankeny; 16 grandchildren, Paul Galeazzi, Marc Galeazzi, Tyler Humphreys, Alex (Serena) Winkelmann, Nicholas Winkelmann, Brad (Melissa) Nolte, Jason Nolte, Carly Dittmer, Megan Winkelmann, Chris Galeazzi, Andrea Galeazzi, Kacie Galeazzi, Emily Whittington, and Melanie Lambert; four great grandchildren, Jacob Galeazzi, Sjon Wambold, Gabriel Winkelmann, and Cassandra Nolte; and a sister, Louise Schneider of West Des Moines.
