Obituary from The Des Moines Register newspaper, Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa, USA on 8-26-2007:

Services for Arliss Boothe, 80, who died Friday, August 24, 2007 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, will be held 10:30 a.m., Monday, August 27 at the First United Methodist Church in Indianola. Burial with military rites will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

Arliss was born in Indianola where he had lived most of his life. He served in the United States Navy during WWII in the Pacific Theatre. He was a Highway Patrolman from 1956 to 1982 retiring as a Captain. He was a member of the American Legion Post #165 in Indianola and enjoyed woodworking, country music and playing his steel and bass guitars.

Survivors include his wife, Ruby of Indianola; 2 grandchildren, Tish Boothe and Tawnya (Jeff) Neighbour of Ankeny; 3 great granddaughters, Taylar, Jaelyn and Brynlee Neighbour; brother, David Boothe of Winterset; and sisters, Nancy Lehmkuhl of Ankeny and Ernestine Smith of Indianola.

He was preceded in death by his parents and children, Linda in 1968 and Denny in 2003.

Visitation will be held 1 to 5 p.m., Sunday, August 26 at Overton Funeral Home where family will be present to greet friends from 3 to 5 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the American Lung Association.
