Marjorie Ruth Burchett, 67, of rural New Virginia died of cancer Monday at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church in Indianola, with burial at New Virginia Cemetery.

Mrs. Burchett was born in Warren County and had lived in the Medora area most of her life. She was a homemaker and a member of Medora United Methodist Church, Medora Ladies Aide and Red Hat Society of New Virginia. She enjoyed quilting, gardening and cooking.

She is survived by two sons, Randy and Doug, both of rural New Virginia; three daughters, Linda Petricca of Roseville, Calif., Sandra Condon of Indianola and Ruth Volk of Eagan, Minn.; a brother, Harold Morris of Indianola; four sisters, Ardena Kemmerer of Milton, W.Va., Anne Niemeyer of Sunrise Beach, Mo., and Edna Core and Harriet Herold, both of Indianola; and 13 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett "LaVere" Burchett.

Friends may call after 2 p.m. Thursday at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola, where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to New Virginia Rescue or Medora Ladies Aide.
