Obituary from The Des Moines Register newspaper, Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa, USA on 12-12-2003:

John H. Miller, 87, died Tuesday, December 9, 2003 at the Veteran's Health Care Center. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at the Merle Hay Funeral Home, with committal following at Chapel Hill Gardens. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until the time of services.

John was born July 18, 1916 in Adel, the son of Carl and Mary (Bennett) Miller. He served our country in the Army during WWII. John was a life member of the VFW and a life member of the American Legion Post 263 of Milo. He enjoyed outdoor activities including fishing and gardening.

He is survived by his children from his first marriage, Clifford, David, Russell and Lloyd Miller; from his second marriage, Alice Sorensen and Richard Miller; step-children, Darra Simpson, Jim Smith, Benny Murray and Ann Jimenez; and several grand, great-grand and great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wives, Viva and Maxine, his parents, two brothers and one sister.
