Services for Orval Kennedy, 91, Monday, July 19, at 6 p.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Milo with visitation following until 8 PM. Memorials to the Milo Rescue Unit or the Milo American Legion, Online condolences: www.pierschbacherfuneralhome.com

Orval was born July 13, 1919 in Indianola, Iowa. He was an Army Veteran of WWII receiving the Purple Heart after being wounded in the Battle of the Bulge.

Orval was married to Wilma Butterfield on December 15, 1946 in Hiawatha, Kansas. Orval and Wilma owned and operated the Milo Locker from 1951 through 1971. He was the Postmaster and a rural mail carrier in the Milo Post Office until his retirement at age 70.

Orval passed away July 15, 2010 at his home. He is survived by his loving wife and lifetime soul mate Wilma Kennedy of Milo; children: Tom (Margene) Kennedy of Des Moines, Larry Benedict of Indianola, and Dixie (Dwight) Downey of Indianola; 11 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; siblings: Alma Town of Milo and Ernest Beck of Pleasantville, several nieces, nephews, and many many friends.

Orval was preceded in death by his mother Zoah and step-father Howard Griswold, son Ronald "Butch" Kennedy, and brothers Raymond Griswold and Harold Beck.
