Doris was born September 13, 1933 in Algona, Iowa to Max and Rose Mesing. She graduated from Algona High School in 1951. She was married to Charles Snodgrass on December 24, 1951; they were the proud parents of a son Jim.
Doris lived most of her life in the Des Moines area. She was a secretary at Des Moines General Hospital for many years retiring in 1985.
Doris then moved to the Lacona and Chariton area where she, Charles, and Jim owned and operated the CJ Lounge for over 20 years. Doris loved to fish, garden, and spend time out doors. She loved her son and grandchildren dearly and enjoyed spending time with them.
Doris died as she lived her life….her way. Doris died January 16, 2010. Preceding her in death were her parents; 2 sisters: Betty Soppeland and Molly Ellis; and a brother Wallace Mesing. She is survived by her son Jim (Renee) of Lacona; grandson Jim of Lacona; granddaughter Megan (Matt) Becker of Colorado Springs, CO; brother-in-law Bob Ellis; and many nieces and nephews.

Services for Doris Snodgrass, 76, will be Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Lacona. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
