Denzel Floyd Montgomery, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Montgomery, was born on April 8, 1918, in Warren County in the Broadhorn neighborhood. He died in an accidental drowning at his farm one mile north of New Virginia on June 20,1954. He was 36 years old.

Denzel attended the Septer country school and St. Charles and St. Marys High Schools. In childhood he attended the Broadhorn Church and later joined the New Virginia Methodist Church.

On March 8, 1940, he married Mary Mae Henson. they have one child.

Denzel spent his entire life in the New Virginia community. He was a member of the New Virginia Lions Club; was a farm Bureau director; a P.M.A. committeman; and helped with many other community projects and activities.

He was preceded in death by his infant brother, Dean. He is survived by his wife, daughter, Marilyn, father, mother, grandmothers, Mrs. Rose Streeter and Mrs. Amy Montgomery, and other relatives.

The funeral servie was held at the New Virginia Methodist Church on June 23, with the Rev. Leroy Moore officiating. Burial was at the New Virginia Cemetery.
