Stephen Leroy Henson, son of Gideon and Mary Henson, was born on a farm west of Indianola, Jan. 11, 1866, and died in Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, Nov. 7, 1950, at the age of 64 years, 9 months, and 27 days.

He spent his entire life in Iowa except for a few years in Kansas, Nebraska, and North Dakota.

On Jan. 1, 1913, he was united in marriage to Myrtle Kirlin, who survives him as do one son, Albert, of St. Marys; three daughters, Marvel Loomis and Mary Mae Montgomery of New Virginia, and Geneva Hoover of Indianola; nine grandchildren; three brothers, Walter of Mandon, ND, Benjamin of Rutland, ND, Earl of Blockton; four sisters, Minnie Hart of Cumming, Nellie Picken of Des Moines, Sadie Bolger of Greenfield, Nora Keyes of Oakland, CA, and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, mother, and one sister, DeLinda Coulter.

He spent the greater part of his married life on a farm southeast of St. Marys where he was living at the time of his death.

Steve, as he was known to his friends, was a loving husband and a good neighbor and a friend and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Funeral services were conducted Thursday, Nov. 9, 1950, at the Overton Funeral Home by Rev. E. W. Frohardt. Burial was in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Indianola.
