Elsie Loomis was born February 13, 1885 in Marion County, IA and passed away March 29, 1980 in the Good Samaritan Home in Indianola, IA where she had been a resident for over 10 years. She was the daughter of Douwe and Maggie Bierma. There were 12 children in the home of which three brothers and three sisters have preceded her in death. They were Dick, Clarence, Hessel, Winnie, Yetta and Martha. One brother and four sisters survive her: Henry Bierma, Winterset, IA; Mrs. Ann Hegstrom, Lawton, IA; Mrs. Dorina Howard, Cherokee, IA; Mrs. Jennie Builenberg, Sheldon, IA; and Mrs. Eva Rusk, Newton, IA.

Elsie attended Washington Center School and on December 11, 1907, married Ralph Loomis. Ralph passed away in July 1963. They had four children, two of which are deceased, Floyd and Loren.

Surviving are Dowe and wife, Margie, of New Virginia; Wendell and wife, Wyla, of Big Horn, WY; and daughter-in-law, Marvel Loomis of New Virginia. Elsie also leaves 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She was a member of the Christian Church in New Virginia.

Funeral services were held April 2 in Truro with Jim Patrick, pastor of the Broadhorn Church, officiating. Burial was in the Union Cemetery near Truro.
