BILL U. HARTSHORN Cumming

Bill U. Hartshorn, 77, passed away at home from melanoma Friday, February 22, 2008.

Bill was born in Knoxville Iowa and was a retired U.S. Letter Carrier for 40 years prior to his retirement in 1999.

He was a faithful member of St. John the Apostle Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.

Bill will be missed by his wife of 54 years, Marilyn, and his five children, Mary Jane Nemetz of Norwalk, Bob ( Joni) Hartshorn of Grantsburg, WI, Joanne (Fritz) Nordengren of West Des Moines, Teresa (Kent) Baker of Winfield and Reverend Chris Hartshorn of Winterset; brother, Jim Hartshorn; sister, Viola Majors.

Bill was a proud grandfather of ten: Anna ( who he joins in eternal life), Spencer, Chase, Noah, Cara, Lauren, Garret, Andy, Liza and Molly.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 a.m., Monday, February 25, 2008 at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in Norwalk. Visitation will be held 1 to 5 p.m. (with family present from 3 to 5 p.m.) and a Scripture service beginning at 5 p.m., Sunday, February 24, 2008 at the church.

Burial will be in St. John's cemetery in Cumming.

Memorial contributions are suggested to; the building funds at his church or St. Joseph Catholic Church in Winterset or to Mercy Hospice.
