Albert Deheck

Albert D. Deheck, youngest son of Ed A. and Lettie Deheck, was born in Jefferson township, Warren county, Iowa, July 30, 1907, and died June 14, 1930 at the age of 22 years, 10 months and 14 days.

The funeral was held Tuesday morning July 17th at 9 a.m. at the Church of the Assumption in Churchville, with burial in Calvary cemetery. The services were conducted by Father Julian, assisted by Father Larkins, both of Des Moines.

Albert leaves to mourn his loss his parents, two sisters, Mrs. E. M. Roach of Rising Sun and Mrs. P. A. Miller of Churchville; two brothers, LeRoy of Martensdale and Francis, at home, many other relatives and a host of friends. The pall bearers were boyhood friends: Will and Peter Davitt of Des Moines; Kenneth Walker of Martensdale; LaVertis Lippold, Harry Brommell and Arthur Gehringer of St. Marys.

Albert was everybody's friend-always cheerful, always friendly, greeting everyone with a smile. All who knew him liked him. On the day of his death he had gone in company with four others, to view the rising water of South river. Without warning, they were caught in an overflow current. Two were rescued, but in attempting to aid the others to escape, Albert gave his life, he and those whom he was trying to assist being drowned before help could reach them.
