Dale Dunkerson, St. Marys

Dale Eugene Dunkerson, 72, of St. Marys died of cancer May 23, 2003 at the Kavanagh House in Des Moines.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 27 at Collins Oak Park Chapel in Winterset with Pastor Robert Barrick officiating. Burial was at Greenfield Cemetery.

Dale Dunkerson was born March 7, 1931 to Dewey and Evona (Hockersmith) Dunkerson of Fontanelle. In 1955 he married Patricia Upah in Creston. Following her death he later married Josephine Kenworthy on April 21, 1980 in Las Vegas, Nev. Dale was retired from Armstrong Tire in Des Moines following 28 years as a tire inspector for quality control. He moved to Warren County in 1989 having previously lived in Des Moines. He was a member of the American Legion in St. Marys.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Patricia; a brother, Dean Dunkerson; and a stepgranddaughter, Kelly Kenworthy.

He is survived by his wife, Jo, of St. Marys; a son, William Dunkerson of Indianola; three daughters, Karen Devard of Coralville, Jean Peterson of Urbandale and Marsha Sharp of Clive; a stepson, Bill Kenworthy of Clive; two stepdaughters, Deb Lesley of Rock Island, Ill., and Kathy Wagner of Des Moines; a sister, Ethel Worthington of Muscatine; 10 grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; one great-grandchild; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.
