IndianolaDavid Mitchell Chambers Sr., 83, of Indianola died of pneumonia Tuesday at Veterans Medical Center in Des Moines. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Peterson Funeral Home in Indianola. Burial will be at IOOF Cemetery.
Born in Cainsville, Mo., Mr. Chambers lived in Warren County most of his life and spent the last 20 years in Indianola. He was a retired carpenter with Paxton Lumber Co., a World War II Army veteran and a member of American Legion.
He is survived by three sons, David Jr. of Indianola, Douglas of Lacona and Anthony of Grand River; five daughters, Betty Lacik and Charlotte Stevenson, both of Tennessee, Terry Mercer of Indianola, Sarah Crouch of Aransas Pass, Texas, and Beverly Russell of Albia; six sisters, Nettie Lou Hogueison, Letha Speer, Irene Hoover and Virginia Broyles, all of Indianola, Shirley Webb of Washington state, and Barbara Chambers of San Francisco; 27 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Friends may call after 3 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, where the family will be present from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
