BELKEY, Frank Albert, 82, of Norwalk, Iowa, died December 20, 2005 at his home in Norwalk on December 20, 2005 at his home in Norwalk. Funeral Services were held at the Kale Funeral Home in Osceola on December 23 with Pastor Joel Andrus officiating. Burial was in the Leon Cemetery, Leon, Iowa.

Memorials may be made to Martensdale Community Church in Frank's memory.

Obituary -

FRANK ALBERT BELKEY ... Frank Albert Belkey, son of Carl Martin Belkey and Fern Mary Ann [Beal] Belkey, was born October 9, 1923 in Williamson, Iowa and passed away at his home in Norwalk on December 20, 2005 at the age of 82.

Frank lived in Chariton from an early age until he left to serve in the US Coast Guard in September of 1943. He was discharged in 1946. On September 5, 1948 he was united in marriage to Alberta Lois Blevins in Corydon; their marriage was blessed with two sons. Frank and Alberta have lived in the Norwalk area for the last 50 years - living on an acreage until moving to an apartment ten years ago. They attended Martensdale Community Church.

Frank received his bachelors degree from Simpson College and masters degree in Social Work from the University of Nebraska. He was a medical social worker at the Veterans Hospital in Des Moines in the cancer ward for 10 years. He served as Director of Psychiatric Social Service at Woodward State Hospital & School for 23 years - retiring in 1985.

Frank was a member of veterans of Foreign wars, Scandinavian Club of Central Iowa, National Association of Social Work and National Alliance on Mental Illness. He enjoyed going to garage sales and collecting antiques and antique tools. He enjoyed traveling - especially a trip to Sweden to see the farm where his father was born; he also traveled to Alaska and Hawaii.

Preceding Frank in death were his parents and a brother, Carl Belkey as a youth.

Survivors include his loving wife, Alberta L. BELKEY of Norwalk; sons, Keith Carl Belkey and Kenneth Raymond Belkey - both of West Des Moines; brother, Charles Belkey and wife Goldie of Elizabethtown, Ky; cousins, John Pershy of Silvis, Il, Franklin Pershy of Muscatine, James Pershey of Promise City and Raymond Pershy of Moravia; other relatives and friends.
